The pieces on this page were written while I was in high school. I decided to post them when looking for a hard copy of "Journey to Destiny" and talking to a coworker one night, so this page is dedicated to him for helping me to break out of my shell and share more writing. Thank you, A.

Each of these has a story behind it, obviously. I am not planning to tell those stories unless there is a call for that information. However, the first one was written in about October of 1990, after my first bout of diabetic ketoacidosis...

I Flee From Death

His night-lined cape envelops me
With darkness and with fear.
His damp, foul breath lands on my neck;
He will not set me free.

He takes me to his hidden lair
Where lies eternal death;
The skies they weep as down we go,
Gasping for one last breath.

I struggle free yet can't escape
From this icy glare.
His power flows forever strong
From beneath his night-lined cape.

The evil face is now revealed;
Fear causes me to scream.
I know not how, but I must escape
From his frightful dream.

Up the stairs and through a field,
On and on I flee.
I climb the night's barb wired fence,
And finally ... I'm free.

Untitled

Your eyes,
Like portals to your soul,
Tell me all I need to know.
Yet something is hidden
Where I can't see,
You keep this self away from me.

My dreams reveal
Your deepest pain;
Though from this knowledge
I've nothing to gain.
And when in dreams I see this fear,
I cannot help my stream of tears.

Peaceful and calm as the morning sun,
In these dreams your eyes are o'errun
With violence and hate.
I see you walking in the halls,
As stone controls your face,
And wonder what's been wrong as of late.

I know you not
As I know some,
But feel as though I do.
Hide not your pain
From my salt-stained eyes.
Share it that I can aid you.
