Dreams avoid this twisted mind
As the stars cast their glittering light
Across the land.
Somewhere in a far-off place,
Where time stands still,
Two distant figures walk hand-in-hand.
One figure smiles and lights the sky
Yet the other's tears fall
Freely from her eyes.
Why so sad must this figure be?
Everything whirls to a sudden blur -
Then I realize why sadness doth reign.
I reach for this person -
We melt into one;
Her pain I feel as slowly we walk on.
Happiness murdered by one very dear
Sadness and pain are all you'll find here.
Yet a glimmer of hope on the horizon appears
Two bright shining stars -
Only she sees their light.
They beckon to her from this far-off place
Where time stands still and dreams come true.
The stars disappear -
Their bright light fades.
Alone again she draws the shades.
Like all the rest these two have flown
To far-off places yet unknown.
She cries her tears for all their pain
Then curses the rules of this unfair game.
No one stays -
They all disappear.
To be alone forever -
This is her doom ... and her greatest fear.
