Many people will tell you different ways to divide up your land/roids, but it REALLY depends on how you play. What I have found to work best for me, and most other top players agree, is to divide up your land in a way that optimises your ship building. So in other words you calculate the best ratio for building the particualr ship your on, and try to share out your land evenly. Here's an example incase you don't quite fully follow what I mean: say you have an empire with 1000 land and 800 roids. this empire only has talons/vettes and needs to start building dd's. this empire also has adv. mines and power researched, and needs to keep researching 2 vettes+eagle+9 talons = 47250k upkeep. dd's cost 14k power, 22k metal, 15k deuterium, 600k credit, 1500 cadets and costs 8k per tick to maintain So, we need to work out how to keep researching at a decent rate, and be able to build dd's as fast as we possibly can, while still making money. so, we first start out with seeing if we can make 1 dd per day. 14k power /24 ticks = 584 power per tick. 22k metal /24 ticks = 917 metal per tick 8k deu /24 ticks = 334 deu per tick 600k credits / 24 ticks = 25k credits per tick 1500 cadets / 24 ticks = 63 cadets per tick 375k credits(cadet training costs) / 24 ticks = 16k plus the extra 8k maintance cost. so, that means that we need 277 powerplants (+63 for resident power) 184 metal mines 167 deu mines 205 tri-lith mines(non-herogen) 252 residence (126 power needed) So we need 556 roids and 592 land, which leaves us with a nice 400 land for researching. Once researching was done, that extra land would be put into dplats, or fabrication plants This mean that we have a spare 244 roids for Tri-Litium mines, which would give us an extra 48k creds per tick. But the current upkeep for the ships is roughly 48k credits per tick. So, while the empire could make enough resources for 1 dd per day, they would soon find themself VERY short on cash. So the best thing for this empire, is to research population tax as soon as possible, and try to spend a few days leeching for roids. Hammering Ships This is a very simple tactic, that everyone should be using, if you want to keep up with the top empires. Instead of selling ships on the market, you use your "Big-Hammer" research to retire, or "hammer", the ship you want to replace and use the extra resources gained to begin construction of a larger ship. While not much of a boost at the start of the game when your using vettes/talons, when you get to the larger ships, hamming a falcon or cruiser makes a big difference when trying to make a SF. It depends on whether you need the cash(from selling it on the market) or the resources (from hammering it). NW Breakdown alright, these are only rough estimates(which for the most part seem acurate) because Cwilms won't release the real values. 1 Power = 1 NW 1 Cadet = 1 NW 1 Built Land = 100 NW 1 Built Roid = 150 NW Vette = 10k Wolv = 20k Talon = 30k Raven = ? buggered if i know, never built these useless things Eagle = 50k Frigate = 50k DD = 60k Gunship = ?? Falc = 120k Cruiser = 150k Sov = ?? Dread = 250k SF = 300K Powerpushing An Endgame tactic to get your NW as high as it possibly can. By putting all of your land onto power it will give you extra NW because 1 power = 1 NW. This means that if u have 3k land and have it all on fusion plants, you get 300k NW for that built land + 450k NW from the stored power (once filled). It will, however, take 75 ticks to completely fill the power plants, so this needs to be done a few days before the round ends. Newbie Mode Ok, i'm not sure if this tactic is really worth it.. loosing the first couple days research for an extra couple of vettes when you leave n00b mode might not exactly be the greatest trade off ever. anyway, if u haven't guessed, this tactic is where you demolish your starting 50 research labs and put them into power. This tactic is really only usefull if u know that u can get large enough to replace those lost research ticks quickly.
