This is also of a picture I got off the internet. Now that the summer is over it has limited my resources. This one is my favorite up to this point (have yet to scan more recent), I explain why in something that is very rare for me, an artist statement: "I have always felt that an artist should never write an artistic statement. I feel it is the duty of the viewer to judge for themselves what the artist was thinking. I originally picked this picture to express my distaste of first world countries' views on war torn children. It was over half way through the drawing that I realized the child was an amputee. Both an arm and a a leg were missing. I think that as I moved up to draw the detials of the face, my shock was suncontiously expressed in it. This is no doubt my most passionate peice yet" |
