Our Philosophy

Our Commitment to the Breed...

At Gardienne Bullmastiffs we feel that it is possible for form to follow function and still create a model show dog. Our top priority is to breed an animal, sound of mind and limb, with the excellent disposition for which our breed is known and loved.Showring fads and trends come and go - a healthy, happy, beloved family pet who happens to be a wonderful show dog will never go out of style! To this end, we will not knowingly breed an animal who has a bad or intolerant temperament. We believe that all animals used for breeding should be certified free of hip dysplasia by OFA, Penn Hip, an accredited orthopedic veterinary specialist or a state vet school. They should also have proven their worthiness in the showring by earning or being close to earning their Champion certification. We realize that there are exceptional animals that have , for one reason or another, not been shown to their championship and these animals would be considered on their individual merit.

We are very selective in the placement of our puppies to try and help assure their health and happiness. Further, all of our puppies are microchipped before they leave the whelping box. This is to help insure a positive identification and to facilitate their return to their owner or us should they ever stray or (heaven forbid) end up in a rescue situation.

We have a very buyer friendly sales contract, which includes health and hip warranties and does not include any "must show" or "must breed" clauses and does include a neuter/spay agreement on pet quality puppies (pet puppy buyers may have their puppy reassessed at 5-6 months of age for quality and type) and may show the puppy if it is evaluated worthy of being shown. We, do strongly suggest that our standards are upheld with our puppies and that they be pointed (preferably finished) and certified free of dysplasia before being bred. A copy of our contract is available upon request.
