| [00:47] | Thank you very much! Good evening! ... How're you doing, alright? Ah, it's lovely to be here in Dublin for the very first time for me, so it's, uh, quit special, and I always have to try and get one or two things straight when we start a gig. First of all, it is: If anybody mentions Phil, I'm sorry, but you have to leave. I'm sorry, that's the rules. If anybody mentions Peter, well, you have to see a doctor. That's the way that works. So now that we've got that straight we can carry on. This next song is, uh, the title track to our new album... | |||||

| [00:53] | I always get a little bit worried on the stage in the evening 'cause they've given me a stool. And I don't think they've realized I'm not quite as old as the rest of the band yet, but I'm sure [laughs] I'm sure they'll figure it out sooner or later. This next song, um, goes way way back to when I was maybe five or something like that, a long time ago. But it's the first Genesis song I ever heard and ever sang as well. And it's got certain sentimental value to me. So we'll do this for you - "Carpet Crawlers". | |||||

| [01:17] | One day I'm gonna reverse back and that chair is not gonna be there and I'm just gonna land flat on my backside but, uh, [---] fears when I'm walking backwards. About a year and a half ago I got a telephone call from Tony Smith who manages the band and he said: "Hi Ray, it's Tony Smith here. I manage Genesis. We were wondering if you'd like to come down and audition and reprace replace Phil Collins because he's left the band." And I looked in my diary and as luck would have it I had a day free, so down I went to Surrey to audition for the band and it was a very nerve-wracking experience as I'm sure you can imagine. And Mike and Tony had written a number of pieces of music, and they played this music to me and asked me just to improvise and to make up words as I went along. So there I am at my audition making up words as I go along to Genesis songs, and it was one of the most bizarre experiences in my life, I think. But through all that came, came this next song, "There must be some other way". | |||||

| [00:49] | Thank you. Now we did a launch for our album last year in Berlin. And I was quite keen for the band to play some of the very old songs on this tour, and we did bits, a couple of them actually then. And we enjoyed it so much we thought we'll do it again tonight so we've all got the acoustic guitars out, Tony Banks with the acoustic as well, and [guitar chords] we'll see if you can recognize this one. | |||||
