Well it has finally cooled down a bit so I can get back to work.  I not in that much of a hurry tho.  To be quite honest I wish I could just snap my fingers and get it over with.   But alas it just doesn't work like that.  Anyhoo Happy Gardening everyone!!!!

I stll haven't done much in the new herb bed yet.  The temps lately have been in the upper 90's.  Today we almost hit 100 but the day is still young it may happen still.  I hope to have atleast the sod cleared by the end of next week.  Then start digging after that.  Maybe the temps will go down a bit and for Goddess sakes lets have some rain.  Last month we got 12 inches and so far this month nary an inch.  Well happy Gardening all!!
Here is the thermometer reading today at around 5:30pm.  Man it is hot hot hot!!
All you Canadians send some cool air this way will ya!

Well I think I have some catching up to do here.  Lets see..... I planted my garden in the middle of April.  I planted Habenero peppers, Tomatoes, Roma Tomatoes, Grape tomatoes, Anaheim chili, Bell peppers, Corn, Jalapeno peppers, Cayenne peppers, Spaghetti squash, Onions, Garlic and Turnips.  Some how I manage to squeeze it all into a 12x16 area.

The planting beds are all double dug  and are 3x6 except for the rear bed which is 3x16.  I'll probably redig them next year and then every other year there after.

So far I have harvested about 10 or so pounds of Tomatoes of various varieties.  The best producers being the Grape tomatoes(ummm umm they are good) and the Roma's.  I've had mixed success with the big slicers.  But I've got a few.  Earlier in the season I had a bad Aphid problem on all my Pepper plants. I thought I would never get rid of them.  I finnaly found a "Lemon-aid" recipe in one of my gardening books that did the trick.  It took about a Weeks worth of constant spraying and hand removal but the left and I haven't seen any more since.  I'll put the recipe for the Lemon-aid after this entry.

I have started digging my herb garden yesterday.  I didn't get much done simply because it is just so hot.  It was  98 yesterday  and they say it will only get hotter.  I don't think I'll be able to plant much of anything in it this summer but I'll have it dug and ready to go for next year so I can get a jump on the season.

Well thats about it for today,  Here is the recipe I promised.

Lemon-Aid       1 table spoon each lemon, lime and orange zest.
                              2 cloves garlic minced.
                               1 pint of water
                                Soap

Boil the water and add all your ingredients to it and remove from heat.  Allow it to steap for at least 3 hours or preferrably over night.  You can cover it with plastic wrap and set it outside to steep if you don't want to smell it all day.  After it has cool strain mixture through ceescloth or whatever you use add a bit of soap to let it "cling" better  and pour into a spray bottle.  Spray the tops and bottoms of leaves in the early morning hours everyday till the move on.
