We are a low-income family, struggling to keep our heads above water with bills and just barely making it. We are not on any public assistance of any kind and we are both employed. Unfortunately, my husband's job is seasonal and where we live that means he is gainfully employed only 6-8 months out of the year. We have a very talented daughter and are already looking into scholarship programs so she can further her education. We are not lavish in our spending, do not have any "toys" (motorcycles, atv's, snowmobiles, etc). We have one vehicle ('88 Bronco). We do not even have a computer and we are using our library's public one.
In other words we are among hundreds of thousands of people just like some of you.
And why am I telling you all of this? We have been given the rare opportunity to purchase the home we are currently renting, but have very limited means to raise the funds for the down payment. So, we are asking people out there who can understand our situation and can spare $1, $5, $10 or any thing you may have extra. We have seen where others have raised thousands of $ to pay off credit card debt (which we don't even have one), helped them move and other, more frivolous expenses.
Our desire is to realize our lifelong dream of owning our own home. This house is not lavish, but rather a much older (1867), fixer-upper that with years more of hard work we can fix up and make into a home for ourselves and to leave for our children (we have 3 boys, grown and gone, also). We have rented our whole lives and never thought we would ever have the chance to become "home owners" but we have lucked into something that few, in this day and age, will ever be offered.
If you can find it in your heart to share a dollar or few, the cost of a cup of coffee, you will be rewarded knowing that you have helped a family have something to call their own.
This is a completely honest request. We are not "scamming, tricking, or lying" to raise funds for anything other than becoming homeowners.
