Secrets and Lies…

Colin had begun to hand out cake when Ryan and Tony sauntered though the door. They were laughing and boisterous and extremely suspicious.
"Where the hell have you two been?" Greg asked.
Tony and Ryan looked at each other and giggled.
"Should I be feeling worried?" Clive asked.
"Well? Don't you think we deserve an explanation?" Josie queried.
"Ooh cake," Ryan perked and bounded over to Colin, who looked at him strangely as he placed a slice of cake on a plate.
"Did you sort things out with Wayne?" Tony piped up as he too took a slice of cake.
"We spoke briefly…he's still more than a little ticked off. I suggest, Ryan, that you call Wayne and apologise…even if you don't mean it, put your acting skills to use," Clive sighed.
"Ok," Ryan mumbled through a mouthful of cake.
"Right…let's get down to business then," Steve perked and nudged Brad.
"Hey, what? Oh yeah my turn isn't it," Brad babbled. "First topic this evening is…guest stars…we've decided that this series we'll include other originals…who have we got?"
"Stephen Fry and Rory Bremnar…so far," Tony chirped.
"Any one else you'd like to include?" Brad asked, scanning the room.
"Wait up…I'm not that bloody fast," Caroline cussed as she tried to quickly write notes.
"That's not what I've heard," Ryan giggled. "Sorry…couldn't help that," he added.
          Caroline jokingly gave Ryan daggers.
          "Mike," Greg perked.
          "Oh yes," Josie enthused.
          "Any others?" Brad asked.
There was a unanimous shaking of heads.
"Props…oh no…we discussed that last time…the Wayne Brady saga," Brad announced.
"Well if Ryan and Wayne can kiss and make up…things will be easier. The decision then is where do we go from there. We can either continue telling him he cannot be involved. Or give him the opportunity to guest star. That would mean he'd only be involved in one taping session," Clive said poignantly.
"He's not an original," Greg spat.
          "Greg's right," Steve nodded.
"But he's very talented," Josie pleaded.
"So he can sing, big whoop," Niall grumbled.
"I think the boys are jealous," Josie mused to Caroline, who nodded.
"How about we leave it until Ryan talks to Wayne…then we can make a decision," Chip suggested.
          Everyone agreed.
"You getting all this Caroline?" Brad asked.
"Word for word darling," Caroline smiled.
"Ok, final topic for this evening…promotional endeavours… Greg is being interviewed on the radio tomorrow morning…sucked in buddy. Tony has yet another TV interview…and we were asked to send someone to go on Letterman but there was mutual agreement that he is a…and I quote here ‘unfunny fuckwit’," Brad perked.
          "Here, here," Steve chided.
          "Any questions?" Brad mused
"Ah yeah…since when was I going on breakfast radio?" Greg asked.
"Since no one else would," Ryan smiled and patted Greg on the back.
          "Bastards," Greg grumbled.
"Oh one last thing," Clive piped up, "new promo ads…they'll need to be penned by the end of the week and filmed by the end of the next."
The group fell quiet as Colin began collecting up the plates and Caroline finished her notes.
"You still haven't told us what you were doing?" Niall perked, looking at Ryan and Tony.
Tony and Ryan looked at each other,
"Tennis, we were playing tennis," Tony stated.
"No really, what were you doing?" Josie sighed.
"No really, we were playing tennis," Ryan chimed in.
"With a couple of 16-year-old girls," Tony smiled.
"I'd like to say that surprises me…" Greg breathed.
"Hey, it was quality exercise," Ryan scorned.
"For which part of your body?" Colin said, raising an eyebrow.
Before Ryan had a chance to respond the phone rang; Colin who was closest answered it.
"Hello." As he listened, Colin's eyes went wide and he placed a hand over the receiver. "It’s Dan Patterson," he whispered.
"What's he want?" Ryan whispered back.
"Right…yes…I'll tell them…." Colin nodded as he hung up the phone.
          "Well?" Tony asked.
"He's going to sue us…for stealing his idea," Colin gasped.
"What idea? Patterson destroyed that when he moved the show to America," Clive scorned. "Besides, The Originals is a completely different format."
"He can't do that…can he?" Caroline breathed.
"Not if we have anything to do with it," Ryan mused.
"Christ, what devious plan have you thought up now?" Steve asked.
"You'll see," Ryan grinned, "you'll see."
