My pregnancy with Koby had it's ups and downs. I was extremely happy to be pregnant...
but scared to death that something bad would happen- again. My doctors kept a very close eye on me for my entire pregnancy. I had so many ultrasounds that I lost count. My first was at 7 weeks along. The last half of my pregnancy, I had NST's (non-stress tests; where they hook me up to a fetal heart moniter & chart  movements and contractions) sometimes twice a week. I had AFI's (ultrasound; where they count the amniotic fluid levels/pockets around  the baby, to make sure it stays within a normal range) once a week. Besides that, I had morning sickness for as long as I did when I was pregnant with Shaina; 4 or 5 months.
At about 28 weeks along, the moniter (during an NST) picked up that I was having contrations every 3-4 minutes and drinking lots of water didn't make the contractions go away at all. I was sent to the hospital to be more closely monitered and given a shot to stop the contrations. It seemed to help for a while, but not too long. They gave me another shot and the contractions let up. I was eventually sent home with a prescription of the same medication that was in the shots they had given me. I had strict instructions to call or come back in if I had more than 6 contractions within an hour and to keep taking my pills. The medication made me shake all over like I had drank 10 cups of coffee. I couldn't sleep and I was really worried. The pills seemed to work, but I kept having contractions for the rest of my pregnancy; although not as often and they weren't making me dilate.
I stopped taking the pills and within a week, I went into labor at home...in the evening after a walk at the park (I had a burst of energy and walked a long ways!) I had bad contractions all evening and my water broke around midnight, a second after I stepped out of the shower. Within 2 hours after my water broke, I was at the hospital 5-6 cm dilated! Koby was born at 6:07 a.m. after a extremely painful labor, with only Stadol for pain (it didn't help at all!) It took a while for me to be stitched up, also.
Koby was born at 37 weeks, healthy as can be...on a sunny & warm March morning. Matt's mom and my mom were the only people there to experience Koby's birth, besides Matt. My most distinctive memories about Koby's birth: How intense labor was...touching the top of his head as it was poking out...Matt cutting the cord...seeing Koby all slimey, on my chest with those big blue eyes.
He is my miracle baby! After losing 2 babies, Koby dropped out of Heaven, right into our arms!
