The choices are rather inviting,
consistent in yellow and red,
I suppose, to make more exciting,
the demands that my stomach be fed.
Before me, a fat woman chooses
a Big Mac, with fries, by all means.
It is no surprise that she oozes
out her size 48 jeans.

Behind me, a child tugs at her parent,
crying for a nice Happy Meal.
I know that the fastest deterrent
to any cheap toy's quick appeal
is luring the child to distraction.
And what do you know? I am right!
The mother takes evasive action,
and points to the playground in sight.

Within seconds, the child is appeased,
and Mommy's left standing in line.
The fat lady looks rather pleased,
and the turn to select is all mine.
Yet without the popcorn and peanuts,
the circus of fastfood's a joke.
It's a strange way to spend ten minutes,
and all for a burger and Coke!
