about the game:

what metal gear solid 3 is, is a stealth game in which you have to sneak around your enemy without being seen. You will get to use camouflage patterns to blend in with the environment. It is also vital that you eat wild animals to survive in the wilderness. Unlike the other metal gear series. there will be a "stalking" actoin. what that is, is a new action that the game features that lets you sneak up to the guards without making any noise. So I guess they can actually hear you in this one.

In the E3 trailer:

it begins with snake parachutting. he then gets his gun and hangs on a tree or something there are two guards, he shoots the one behind in the head, leaving an explosion of blood. He then drops on the 2nd guard that is alerted.
there is a squad of guards searching for him, he is just peeking on them leaning against a tree. Notice that a guard is walking backwards, it might be harder ambushing them.
he obviously picks a fight with them, of course he wins. But the guards are also using clever strategies with covering fire and all that crap. But snake kills them all with thermal vision, grenades, and his M16.
there is one scene where snake is leaning against the wall, perfectly camouflaged, and the stupid guard doesn't see him as shown above. Snake then comes up from behind and slits his throat.
snake is swimming up to a port not being all stealthy. the guards see him and open fire. but no bullets hit him. He then blows up gasoline tanks or something. Killing all of them
and of course. You have to eat to survive. take a look at this picture. Although it is hard to see, snake is holding a snake in his hand and he is eating it. in the E3 trailer, it plays dramatic music when he eats the snake.
