"A hyperlink is an item of text(or an image) that the
user can click on in order to be led to another item, or source of information or location"
A hypertext is also called hypertext references(HRREFS)
Usually we find coloured word's or phrases or underlined words or images on a web document by clicking into which we can jump to a different location as pointed by the link. These are nothing bnut hyperlinks. Also, when you move the mouse pointer over hyperlink, the
pointer changes to a pointing hand.
It gives you the capability to manage information on the web in new, highly effective way
EG: A user can click on a postage stamped image and call up a full-size version of the same image.
Hence, hyperlinks give the web its hypertext and hypermedia functionality
