Lloyd moved to the Mexican territory of Tejas, in 1830 along with Stephen F.
Austin, and the "original 300". Lloyd had already seen these good lands many
years before when he traveled, and he choose to settle with his childer and
livestock at the Eastern base of the deep Hill Country near the Colorado river.
While Lloyd never took direct control of any of Stephen F. Austin's colonist to
Tejas, his group did play a major role in the growth of the territory from Mexican
holding to Sovereign nation to joining the United States.
In 1836, the supposed Texas Revolution occurred. In reality it was a clash of the Gangrel based Carthian movement that was trying to establish free territories, against the Lancea Sanctum from Mexico City. While the Carthian did manage to drive most of the Lancea back to Mexico, the city of San Antonio fell to the Sanctified, and many Carthians met the final death. There has been bad blood ever since. Lloyd met many Kindred who came Texas and especially what he considered "his" city of Austin. He worked hard to maintain control over the human state government, mostly for the purposes of land. Power struggles with the growing Kindred populations in Houston, Dallas and El Paso forced Lloyd to make concessions of power so as to consolidate his position in Austin. This still gave him great control over the state, and he was quite respected for his "sharing" of power. The majority of the states' Kindred remained Carthian, allowing few hardcore Invictus or Lancea Sanctum to grow to positions of power, but some still did. Lloyd could feel himself growing weary in his unlife. As he knew his time to rest was approaching, he relinquished his singular control over Austin kindred and instituted a form of republic representative government for the city. His oldest childe succeeded him as Caretaker by unanimous vote, and Lloyd disappeared, some say to go sleep away his powerful blood. Less then 40 years later, Lloyd's oldest childe, Frank MacCullough, slipped into torpor as well. He was replaced by Dora Choctow, an old half Indian Gangrel, as the next Caretaker, after 10 years in office when the next vote came up, she was not re-elected, and lost to Lloyd's other childer, Deebin. |
