Grade 7 Art Project

Task #1 - Your job is to provide a brief summary (obviously, in your own words) of the life and one work of an artist. You must include your rough notes/internet printouts and a list of the resources that you used (a bibliography).

Format for written assignment (Task #1):

Make a Waterfall Booklet (like with your career projects) and show your understanding of the following:

Title Page - Name of the artist, your name and room number

Artist - Find 2 or 3 "interesting" facts about the artist that you have found out.(don't bore the reader with uninteresting, repetitive information). E.g. You could call Liszt the "Michael Jackson of the Romantic Period" because he liked to wear gloves to demonstrate how special his hands were. He'd take them off slowly in front of the audience as they waited in anticipation.

The Facts - Include birth date, death date, title of most famous paintings (paintings the artist is most known for).

Style - Period of art, Realistic, Impressionist or Abstract (include proof and a brief definition of the period).

Reproduction- Title of the painting you chose to recreate and the date it was painted. Include an explanation of why you chose this painting. What makes it stand out above all the others. Find a write up/analysis of the painting and in your own words, describe some of the important facts about it.

Bibliography- Include the websites, encyclopedias and/or magazines you used to gather your information. You must have at least one hard copy source (one piece of information not found on the internet).

Task #2 - You must choose an artist that paints in the realistic, impressionist or abstract style. You must hand in with your project a reproduction (a copy of a painting/drawing that you have created ) of one of the paintings you have seen in your research by the artist. You may use watercolours, pastel or mix your own paint. You may also add a different media on top of the main one you chose.

Both projects are due: May 20th
