Diamond Lake, Oregon.
A mile high in the Oregon Cascade Mountains, Diamond lake is three miles long and one mile wide.  It does freeze in winter.  There are three National Forest Service campgrounds close to the lake, plus a lodge and an RV park.

Over the long weekends in the summer, and July Fourth, and the Square Dance weekend at the lodge, all sites are likely to be taken early!  Some of the F.S. sites are available for reservations.

Taken at the south boat launch ramp inside Diamond Lake Campground.  The mountain on the other side of the lake is Mt. Baily, over 8,000 feet elevation.  I have been assured that one can hike to the top.
The sign post at site L-1 in the campground.  And the Hosts.  Us.

Mt Thielsen dominates the skyline to the east of the lake.  This distinctive peak can be seen from Hwy 97, roughly 20 miles further east.
Diamond Lake Resort (aka "The Lodge") is a commercial operation at the lake.  If this link works, you will be taken to their web site. The area info given there is designed to encourage visitors.

Probably need to use "Back" to return here.

While we were Camp-Hosting at Diamond Lake, this is how the Toyota looked while traveling to and from each year.  That's the small boat seen in the first photo on this page.
It might not relate to "camping", but it does show - like the previous photo - we expect our vehicles to work hard.  Bales of insulation for the house attic during the 1970's "energy crunch".
