So - we got off the road for a change..... |

Well ---- what can I say. They are 'vehicles' of a sort, and we went places and lived in (on?) them. One drawback. In the event of a "family discussion", it's not easy to 'step outside and take a long walk'. The larger boat has taken us out to the Channel Islands a number of times.
Further down the page, we're back on land again. |

Two things about the Falcon - very confined in wet weather, and we had to roll up a sleeping bag before making coffee in the morning. The new boat was a West Wight Potter - 19 feet, 4 berths, a 'potti', and a solid "roof". Much better. Seen here on Mission Bay. |

A 16 foot McVey Falcon day-sailer. The VW pulled it without too much stress. We bought it second-hand and it came with a "boom-tent". We slept on this boat in a number of places, from Mission Bay down by San Diego to Huntington Lake, where this photo was taken. |

We had joined the Lake Perris Sailing Association. This was at a club outing to Mission Bay over Thanksgiving. The chap pointing is the one who took the photo directly above. What happened to the photo I was taking at the time I have no idea. |

We have spent some days and nights in Long Beach harbor. On this particular trip we pulled in to pick up some friends for an afternoon sail in the harbor. Yes, that's the Queen Mary in the background. |

A somewhat 'different' place to spend a night! We needed to buy four new trailer tires, have the wheel bearings re-packed with grease, and get the trailer brakes checked. As it turned out I needed new bearings, and it took 26 hours to get them delivered to this location. |

Speaking of "off-road" - that's as far as the door would open - it's hitting the gully wall. We took the VW into places that many would consider "4 wheel drive" aeas. |
