The Phoenix is a great Mythological bird who appears in more than just Egyptian Mythology. He plays a major role in Chinese and Greek mythology as well.

Phoenix

In Egyptian Mythology the Phoenix was also called the Bennu. This mighty bird represents rebirth, beauty, sunrise and the death of the fire (or ashes). It is said that once a phoenix has lived it's life which tends to range from 500 years up to 7000 years, he returns to the nest of his birth and burns into ashes. From these ashes the new Phoenix is born and matures enough leave the nest in 3 days. When the bird leaves the nest, it gathers up the ashes of it's father and takes them to the priests in the Temple of Osiris, where worship of the gift of life is made.
