| Gamma Phi Beta Richmond AlumnaeWhats in it for me?
Id like to check out some of the events, but I dont think I know anybody. I dont want to show up to anything because I havent paid my dues. Dont only young women go to those things? If you are one of the 285 or so G Phi B alumnae in the greater Richmond area, you may have found yourself saying one of these things in the past. Its true- going to events with new women is a lot like participating in rush: it can be intimidating and you dont know what to expect. So heres a little information about who your sisters are in the area: 60% of local alumnae graduated from one of the 4 schools in Virginia34% from William and Mary, 11% from UVA, 9% from CNU, and 6% from GMU. The other 40% of us are from chapters all over the US and Canada, ranging from California to Texas to Vermont to Florida. The Richmond area attracts a lot of out-of- state transplants, and our chapters membership reflects that. You dont have to pay dues to participate in events. Whether or not you pay alumnae dues is between you and International Headquarters. If you would like to be a dues-paying member of the local chapter, dues are $40 a year and are normally collected around Founders Day. But please feel free to come out even if you havent paid! 34% of alumnae in the Richmond area graduated in the year 2000 or later. 10% graduated in 1960 or earlier. 25% of our alumnae live in the West End, 25% live on the Southside, and another 10% live in the city. As you can see, the Richmond alumnae chapter offers a little bit of something for everyone. We hope you'll come out to an event and get to know your local sisters soon! |
