It was a perfect day for our local trials. Our youngsters proudly carried their banner in the parade following the carrying of the Olympic Torch. After the Pledge was given (lower left) a beautiful rendition of 'Wind Beneath My Wings' was sung and the games began.

The kids take a break from practicing before their first event (upper right), the softball toss. Below (left) PJ prepares to throw a practice toss. He did better this year in the softball event, but had a bit of trouble in the 50 meter dash. Because he qualified for an older class, the starting gun was used. It's really hard to run with your hands over your ears. Guess we'll have to practice with a cap gun for the next one! All in all, it was a terrific day, ending with a pizza party in PJ's honor.
I recently received this banner from a lovely bunch of folks at 'Random Acts Of Kindness' (click on it to go to their site). I think it fits in here as a tribute to all of the volunteers who gave their time to help in so many ways with the events of this special day, from the coordinators to the timekeepers to the local Sherriff's motorcycle group 'The Blue Knights' who escorted the Torch Bearer to the track and the people who were there to just point you in the right direction. Thanks to each and every one of them for their good hearts!
