Tribes Vengeance: ~Above Sites Under Construction~

Welcome!

To my Tribes Pages

Objective:

Welcome to this fine page I have designed for your viewing pleasure(notice all the graphics that AREN'T here, see everyone thinks that graphics are "good" but NO...not me...in a few years, you will yearn for non-graphic sites...and how many of them will their be? ONE...MINE...enjoy). Here I shall post little notes that all tribes players should heed, just to enhance their playing time.

For my first trick...I shall perform for you...an amazing paragraph telling you how to use your weapons correctly, and when not to use them(in a short summary of the weapons page). First, is shooting while moving. This is HARD no matter who you are, and as anything else on Tribes, this will take a long time to master if you're new. When shooting at an enemy, you need to analyze your current speed and direction, and your enemies speed and direction. Then you shoot at your enemy and you "lead" according to your best estimate of where to shoot. When you "lead" you don't put your reticle on the enemy, but rather where he is going to be. This is where your previous analysis will become useful. To predict how much to lead(or how far in front of your enemy to shoot) you need to recognize the speed, which will make you put the reticle farther in front of them. Then, you need to look at both of your directions, if they are travelling with you(same direction) you need to lead less. If they are going opposite of you(parallel but in the opposing direction) you need to lead MORE. If they are perpendicular to your line of trajectory, you need not lead, just shoot around them(one shot is likely to hit). Now, you need to realize the weapon you are using. If you are using the chaingun(or similar weapons) you need to be VERY precise with your estimates. This is because the chaingun doesn't do any area damage, and will only damage the point it hits(hopefully your enemies head). Otherwise, if you use explosives of any kind, you need only get NEAR your enemy. Once more, leading will help greatly. With leading a disc, you don't need to be precise, because the blast affect will damage your enemy. BUT, the more accurate, the more damage. Next, one of the hardest tricks to master, is Mid-Air discs. This is when you hit your enemy, while they jet through the air. To some this comes easily, others, not so. Only practice will make you a veteran at this weapon. Then we have the 2 special weapons, Sniper Rifle, and the Buckler. The sniper rifle is light armor only, and will be the easiest to aim. BASICALLY, shoot where your enemy is, depending on distance. The farther away, the more you lead(if at all) this guns shots are fast, and they drain your energy. SO, use this at long distances, because you don't want to fly into battle with no energy. Also, headshots prove to do more damage(enough for a one hit kill to a light armor). Then the buckler, is much much harder to learn to use. This is for the medium armor, and is the hardest weapon to master(in my opinion). In order to use this accurately, you need to have a keen sense of depth perception, because you need to know where your enemy is, where your buckler is going, and where your buckler needs to go. This weapon is a weapon that is hard to be taught to use, but once you master this weapon, you can do a combo between this, and a disc. With the two hits, lights and medium armors are defeated in just 2 hits. Also, watch for people shooting at you, and if a sniper aims at you, zoom in and point the middle of your reticle at their head, or body. If they shoot you while the buckler is out, it will reflect off and hit them. So even if you're in medium, you can gain headshot points by making snipers kill themselves. The buckler also reflects grenades, chaingun rounds, and discs. It helps very little against burners and mortars, and does nothing against grapples as far as I know, because deflecting grapples isn't a top priority sort of thing.

WOW...go water your eyes, that was a long paragraph. Now, I will explain the importance of packs and how crappy vehicles are. First is the packs. Each pack has its own special ability(see packs section), and are crutially useful to even the most hardcore veteran. With a pack, your skills will increase tenfold, BUT you have to remember to push the button to activate them! They all have passive abilities, but those alone won't make you great. learn to activate your pack as much as possible, when you need to. Then we have vehicles. These ALL suck. I'm sorry VU, you dropped the bomb here. The vehicles are SLOW, practically defenseless to a good player, and have little practical use. Because they suck so much, just go to the vehicles page.

Now, here are the tips that even vets need to remember on the occasion:

  1. Learn to ski, fly, shoot, use your pack, switch weapons, shoot, ski and repeat. Of course, not in this exact order, being able to do such tasks quickly, and efficiently will be the difference between a disc in your face and a disc in your opponents face.

  2. KNOW YOUR MAPS. This is true for ANY game at ALL. racers, rpgs, action, adventure, they all need you to know your map. Play them a lot, and you'll know them. It really is as easy as that. If you work right, you can go from newbie to veteran skilled just by knowing your maps, and weapons.

  3. STRAFE. Never stay in one place. There is no moment when you should stop moving...ever. I don't care what kind of story you come up with, MOVE. An old saying goes somewhate like this "The more you fly the less you die" whether your flying, skiing, or running...MOVE.

  4. When using explosives, you don't HAVE to hit the enemy. Example: If an enemy is flying near the ground(like just taking off) or next to a building, you can hit the ground and walls around them, and not only damaging them, but you can throw them off course as well. This is useful when they are retreating, and you have a spinfusor ready to spill their blood.

  5. For CTF, you need to speak with your team and get some kind of plan worked out. Also, pay attention to the score. If your team is losing by a few caps, go on the defensive and send only 1 person out to get the flag. This will keep enemies from getting your flag while you repair your base, or prepare a large offensive assault.

  6. In Arena, NEVER leave a group. People complain about horrible 1 v 8 situations, when there is still 9 people living on their team. Stick with your own colors, and you'll live longer. I know this advice sounds horrible but, learn not to die. You need to learn how to dodge your enemy before you can kill them and live to fight another person.

  7. In Ball, get a goalie/goalies on your goal. Have a medium stand in front, and if the enemy throws too early, have them jump into the balls path. They will catch the ball(also capable to do with the grappler), and the enemy gets no score. Here's the hard part for some reason. After the goalie has the ball, have a specific person go retrieve the ball from him. For some reason, people don't understand that if the goalie is off scoring, the enemy can grab the ball and score before the goalie gets back, and very easily.

  8. In Rabbit, you need to be fast, and use the grappler. You need to be able to go in for a quick grab on the flag, and grapple away. For one simple reason. Once you have the flag, everyone else is against you. If you grapple and move fast, you can run from enemies longer, which is the ENTIRE point to rabbit, besides slaughtering the rabbit.

  9. For Fuel, don't play it. Unless you find it somehow fun. I haven't met many people who like this mode of play, but for advice, you need to attack the enemy fuel depot. If you can keep their tank drained, then yours fills up and they have to load theirs up for a longer amount of time. Don't pay attention to the neutral fuel, even though it is easiest to obtain.

  10. Stick with your team, work out a plan and have your attack and defenses ready before the enemy acts. Tribes is a strategic game, like chess and if you play your game the right way, you'll win every time, no matter how good the enemy is at killing.

  11. When dueling in a battle where you are fighting more than one person, pick on the weakest person, even if the other person is a bigger threat. Once you get the weak person out of the picture, you can deal with the harder player(s) and take them out much easier than taking the hard person out, and *if* you survive to tell about it, kill the weaker one.

  12. Keep your base safe, secure and running. Having your sensor is a big deal in CTF, because without it, an enemy could be waiting to pop out of a crack and kill you, or you might not notice a sniper.

  13. If you think of any more tips that should be added here, feel free to e-mail them to me, and I'll put them up, along with your screen name(upon request).
