Binary ~ AdditionWelcome to the binary addition page. Here, you will learn the basics to adding in binary, and I will give you the technical rules to adding numbers in binary. Note, that these rules are true for adding 2 binary numbers, and if you want to add 3 or more binary numbers at the same time, you must learn that on your own. That said, here's the table that will help you with your addition in binary:
Example:     110 + 110   1100 In the equation, it starts out as 0 + 0, so below that I put a 0(basic stuff there). Then, it adds 1 + 1. So, looking at the rules of addition, I put down a 0, and carry a 1 to the next column. And so, the last column is 1 + 1 + 1, which says put a 1 down, and carry 1. Since the next column has no other value, it's like saying 1 + 0, which means I would put down the 1. So, in the end, the answer is 1100. You can check this by converting 1100, and 110 to decimal, and adding checking the problem that way as well. In binary, 110 is 6, and 1100 is 12, so 6 + 6 does equal 12, and that's how we know we did the problem correctly. |
