McNabb Wins Honors Again

For the second straight week, Baltimore quarterback Donovan McNabb won Player of the Week honors. Mcnabb led the team with 32 points en route to the 49 point smashing of the New England Blizzard. New England had no answer for McNabb or the Rhino running game. They allowed the duo of Larry Johnson and Fred Taylor 47 points and fell to a disappointing 1-4 start. Baltimore took a stronghold on the division with a 4-1 record, 2 games ahead of both Georgia and Washington, who both won their games as well. In the Central, Pittsburgh and their defense continued the dominance by holding Texas to only 59 and improving to the still perfect 5-0. The Pittsburgh defense didn't let first time starter Clemens get any offense going. Both Missouri and Tennessee also lost in the Central giving Pittsburgh a 3 game lead over Texas and Missouri and 5 over the winless Tornadoes. Death Valley took a 1 game lead in the West with an 8 point win over L.A. and a Tacoma loss to Georgia. Alaska beat Missouri by 9.

       GZFL Is Back
                    by Ron Rego

Week 1 is underway as the defending champion of 2004 DC is under new management. Last years strike season cost the league a full season. But with most teams under new management, the league is stronger than ever. Several teams have name changes including Washington which was the DC Banshees. Now they are known as Washington Beast. Santa Monica moved to L.A. but kept the Surfers as the nickname. Autin Argonauts are now the Texas Tycoons. New England, former 2-time champs, are now the Blizzard instead of Neeples. Pttsburgh, Georgia, Missouri and Alaska have yet to submit their names, but all have agreed to stay in the cities they have. Tacoma Mudslides announced they are keeping the name, although they may move to another city.
