1rst issue appliqued platypus patch ( the white top half of the platypus is a separate piece of cloth which has been sewn onto the patch.

fully embroidered platypus 
    Prior to the platypus patch there was no uniform and officers carried a brass medallion for identification purposes.  Officer's were not issued a badge during the time of the platypus patch.  Identification was by I.D. card only.  They did have belt buckles with a miniature version of the patch on it which said Fisheries and Wildlife, Victoria.

    In 1984/85 all of the separate agencies in Victoria were combined into one large conglomerate.  At this time everyone wore the same shoulder patch (sun and gum leaves variety, below), but were issued small epaulettes to designate specific positions.  The design of the patch remained the same for some time but the agency went through several name changes due to reorganizations.  Each reorganization prompted a new patch.
