Darien (offstage narration):
And finally, this is Schuyler. I�d had a thing for her for years. I�m not sure if she knew it yet, but I think I liked it that way. Schuyler was an awesome person. She�s always willing to help people out. She�s the one who is down to earth. Kind of interesting, considering what she did to me�but yah�Sky has lived in Howland her entire life. In fact, her ancestors were the founders of Howland. She was pretty popular and busy with publicity stunts for her father, who was a politician. She somehow always managed to make time for us though.
Camera pulls out again and all four can be seen in the shot.
Holden:
Me? Polite? Come on, Sky, you�re smarter than that!
Darien:
Hah, yah Sky, Holden always says what he thinks. Remember when he said that the tree in his front yard looks like your face?
The entire group laughs and Schuyler laughs especially hard. They are teasing each other. The camera then shoots a still picture of the group.
Darien (offstage narration):
This is where it all began. This was the end of the beginning and the beginning of the end. It�s funny how this scene only took place a few years ago and since then, everything has changed so much. Everything is different now.
Cut to Darien walking down the street alone. He is walking towards the camera, looking right into it. The camera keeps backing up as he keeps walking. However, Darien is not actually talking. Instead we hear the narration.
Darien (offstage narration):
We were supposed to be studying for finals. All that week had been finals at school. That tomorrow was supposed to be it, the final final, the last day. All had been going well. We didn�t actually study that night. We were just goofing around. Little did we know that that would be our last time together. After that day, all hell broke loose and everything changed.
Cut to outside the school, where Darien, Schuyler, and Holden are on the stairs. No one is saying anything. Holden is crouching down. Darien is sitting on the stairs. Schuyler is standing behind Darien. They all sort of have this blank stare, as if they are deep in thought. After about a minute of silence, it is broken.
Holden:
Unbelievable. It�s just unbelievable.
Schuyler:
How could something like this happen? Especially to her�
Darien:
I just�can�t believe it.
Schuyler:
Me neither.
Holden:
This stuff happens all the time though.
Schuyler:
But never to someone we know!
Holden:
True, true.
Darien:
It�s just messed up. It never should have happened. I mean, gah�.
Schuyler:
We should do a lot more praying now.
