The Serr. Geryi is an
interesting species that was recently discovered (1993) by Dr. Jegu.
I recently acquired 3 of these from a hobbyist with a rather large
collection. This fish has been
said to school and I am attempting to do this. I have 3 currently, but I
will be adding more
(3 or 4) in the near future. A humeral spot is present on all 3 of the
specimens I have. This
may or may not fade with water conditions and stress level. This fish
has a prominent
violet-brown stripe from the lower jaw to the dorsal and then fades as
it approaches the
adipose fin. Currently, they have a Serr. Brandtii in the 125g
tank with them. There have
been no fin nips so far. I will continue to post my observations on this
intriguing species.
Update, last night I noticed the smallest of the geryi had a small nip
in it's anal fin. Tonight,
(3-07) I will separate the Brandtii and see if that helps.
