Metroid Review

Metroid is the first in a series of Metroid games.  It was released in 1986 on the Nintendo Entertaiment System.  You play the bounty hunter named Samus Aran and you must defeat the Metroid of Zebeth (It's Zebes but in the game, thats what it says) and destroy the Mother Brain, the mechanical life vein.  Well thats exactly what you do.  Sounds easy, aye?  Guess what, it ain't.

In the beginning you are a weakling but you advance by getting new weapons, gadgets and unit tanks which give you more life than you usually have.  There are two mini- bosses and the main enemy, the Mother Brain.  Including the bosses, there are tons of other enemys to brawl with.  Some are easily defeated, but others involve strategy.  And the Metroids are crazy.  The music, and atmosphere is very eerie.  It's awesome.

The controls are simple and the map is long and big.  One thing that is extremely awesome is the faults in the grounds and walls.  You'll be bombing for weeks.  You have to collect eight main items (but there are lots of energy tanks and missile boxes) and then you go after Kraid and Ridley and ounce you do that, you go to Tourian to brawl with the Mother Brain.

This is a masterpiece.  This is the best in the series, right next to Super Metroid.  Theres two options you can make.  Go the cheap way and buy a NES and a copy of Metroid (check ebay) or go the expensive way by buying a GC, GBA, GBA to GC cord, Metroid Fusion and Metroid Prime.  Beat Fusion (it's fairly easy) and then hook it up to Prime and you can play it.  Make your choice quickly cause this game is needed for life.  I give it a 10 out of 10.
