This page was created to document my progress in the restoration of our first boat, a 17' 1975 Bayliner Mutiny that we dubbed "Chiquita". Chiquita, which is latin for "little girl" is a very fitting name for our boat for a number of reasons. First of course is her size, she is about bare minimum of what you need to navigate the local salty waters that I had planned for her. Second and the one that most obvious was the fact that she was screaming YELLOW, so Chiquita, as in Chiquita Bannana! The name is also a poke at the fisherman's superstition of Bannanas, and boats. Alot of fisher folk would go as far as not allowing guests abourd their boat if they had sun screen by "Bannana Boat". There are many stories of the tragedies of bringing a bannana on a boat. Stories from fishless days, equipment failure and also death. So to alot of the traditional fisher folks, bringing a bannana on board is rite up there with putting your hand on his ol' ladies lap. A big NO NO and guarenteed to get you ejected from the boat, following your bannana!
Anyhow, Enjoy the pics!
