I'm sat amongst the chained, As the highborn towers fall, Whispers of an answered prayer, "Have the Gods heeded our call?" The screams from cultured voices, Echo through the darkened night, To us now, they shall be equal, We have no need for flight. Without their wealth and property, They are nothing but people meek, The soldiers shall not follow, The penniless or the weak. No chains can ever hold us, We are strong with our faith, Belief and friendship guidance, To guard us against the wraith. The evil that possessed them, Smell of lucre, sweet as honey, We did not bow to filthy greed, The stain and evil that is money. We shall be as we ever were, Free in mind as well as soul, No chain can hold our blessed heart, For we are a people whole.
