Review: Psi-Ops is a great action game with things never implemented in a game before. The game revolves around a guy named Nick who, after being brainwashed, wakes up and has to discover who he really is (I know we've heard this story before and it is very clitche but regardless, the storyline is attractive). Upon awakening from this brainwashing, you start off with no kind of defense except your gun but as you travel along in the game you unlock various Psi Powers that let you manipulate the level in various ways to gain access to hidden areas or complete areas differently, This is very well implemented in the game with the addition of the Havok 2 physics engine which allows objects to react as they would in the real world. About time they have gotten it right! Physics thrown in a game does not actually make it better, people! Psi Ops finally breaks this by making the player actually need to use the physics engine and the Psi Powers together to keep them out of harms way. The Psi Power you will rely on the most in the game is Telekenesis, also referred to as TK. TK is used to move any physical object around in the world such as crates, explosive barrels an the most fun thing.....other people! With this and the extras thrown in, it makes Psi Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy worth the 50 bucks. |

SCORING TIME!
Graphics:
The graphics were not jaw dropping but nor were they bad either. They seem a little sketchy at places with jagged edges or rough textures but it does not take you away from the actual gameplay.

Interactivity:
What can I say? The integration of the Havok 2 physics engine makes this game full of interactivity and fun hidden everywhere. I love the fact that you can lift basically everything up with your mind and toss it about the level.

Production Values:
The production values were ok, not great and not bad but...ok. The sound effects are good but you basically have all weapons sounding alike with an exception being the silenced pistol. A few corny lines thrown in does not make the game any better or worse but it does give you a good laugh when you start thinking " Why the f*** did he just say that?".

Replay Value:
This game has good replay value because of the amount of unlockable missions and the many different experience levels available to you. You will find yourself having to backtrack through most of the stages to find the hidden garden gnomes that unlock each secret mission but once you find them you wont be disappointed with the fun little mini game missions they unlock for you.
