The main color in Sailor Ran's fuku is a pale violet. Her skirt, glove bands, shoulder flap, shoes, brooch, and tiara gem are this color. Her bows are a light gray. She wears stylish rainboots, has a cloud charm (medium-sized) on her choker, and wears earrings with hanging violet quartz crystals in the shape of raindrops. Her gloves are fingerless. There are no stripes on her shoulder flap. Her hair is dark brown and her eyes are gray-violet. Her senshi symbol is a raindrop.
Sailor Ran uses a longbow and arrows (with quiver) -- the Tempest Arrows -- as her weapons in basic combat. She needs them to perform one attack.
Ran Celestial Power, Make-Up! :Ran's transformation. Her cloud charm is her transformation item. Against a background of stormy gray clouds, her body flashes with lightning streaking across it. Raindrops make tiny splashes on her body, glowing where her fuku would be. A crash of lightning and a stormcloud rushing past her, and she appears in her fuku. She reaches up and grabs a bolt of lightning just as it appears. It transforms into her bow. She now wears the quiver. She holds the bow in front of her, her other hand hanging lazily at her side.
Tempest Arrow Flash :Ran pulls three arrows from her quiver and holds them up above her head, holding her bow out in front of her and parallel to the ground. A gust of wind blows past, carrying with it tiny stray clouds that attach themselves to the arrowheads. Holding the arrows between her fingers, she readies them in the bow and, after a second and an intimidating look, releases them. They multiply and hit one enemy with all the force of gale-strength winds.
Ran Stunning Deluge :Ran is rainsoaked, her hair sticks to her face and neck, her body and fuku drip water. Rain falls from overhead clouds. She raises her hands above her head and closes her eyes as they glow a soft gray. When the misty orb of light disappears, she brings down her hands abruptly, bringing a downpour of magical rain that burns and disables enemies upon contact. She may use this once per battle to replenish the energy of any one other senshi.
Sailor Ran's creation dates back to before the time of the Celts. She received her power at the current location of Stonehenge. A gifted child, she was escorted to the Moon Kingdom by Sailor Urd and the other Norse-named senshi. She was placed under the tutelage of the Archmages of Selenity's court, where she grew in the knowledge of nature and her ways.
Ran was of the age of 23 when the Dark Kingdom attacked. When the Moon was lost, she and her fellow Norsefolk fought on behalf of the earth, sworn enemy of the Moon Kingdom, for this was the last bastion against evil. She and the others were killed on the way there.
Sailor Ran was reborn as Mai Arashi. Of frail body and weak constitution, she was always unable to keep up with her classmates' and friends' running and chasing games. Thus more often than not she ended up being teased for losing all the time. After a while she learned that it was more fun if she just stayed inside and played simple songs on her father's piano, and dancing with her parents whenever they put on classical music. Seeing her musical talent, her parents got her a piano teacher. In junior high school she joined the band and dance group, but dropped out of dance after one semester because she would tire easily.
She is now in her second year at Juuban High School, where she has run into numerous other senshi and is a part of the school band. Her clearest memory is of Sailor Urd, who was her best friend in the past and is the same now. Her memory is remarkably sharp. Mai attributes this to the fact that she goes to a field to meditate whenever it rains.
Mai is a sullen, gloomy, rather stubborn girl who would rather not be in big crowds. She is more likely to be found playing music alone in her apartment than out socializing, even if it is with her best friend. Because of her weak body, she is particularly weak against ranged attacks. She prefers to always linger behind the rest. Her accuracy and precision are deadly. She dresses in dull colors so she can fade and blend. Because of her connection with nature and heightened sensibility to its changes and signs, she occasionally has visions. They are mostly of the past. She has a vague impression of having loved someone once, but she has no recollection of who it was.
