| DAVID BOORNE |
![]() |
| Dave was born on a farm in Scarborough, Ontario in 1942. He painted for over 30 years and then found sculpting. This has become his passion!
He believes that his work should not only be beautiful but also meaningful. Stone and steel are his favourite mediums. He works in stone gathered from around the world and he particularly loves alabaster from Mexico and soapstone from China. Scrap yards become his art supply stores when it comes to steel, as he finds treasures of all shapes and sizes hidden in these discard museums. He studied at the Haliburton School of Fine Art and was a member of The City Sculpture School in Toronto. He studied welding at Loyalist College in Belleville. His work has been displayed at the Spectrum Gallery in Toronto, the Distillery District, the Quinte Arts Centre, Pictons Art in the County, The Makers Hand in Prince Edward County, Side Street Gallery in Wellington, Gallery 121 in Belleville and in his own galleryRidge Gallery at 265 Ridge Road just outside of Picton. In September 2006 this gallery will be part of the Prince Edward County Studio Tour. He is currently the Executive Director at the Quinte Ballet School of Canada in Belleville, a member of the Arts in the County committee, and a fundraiser for the Prince Edward County Studio Tour. |
