Some Quick First-Aid Dressings & Bandages
for disinfection and protection of mild cuts and scraps.
Preperation H hemorroid cream.
Comments/Drawbacks
Contains a topical anesthetic (benzoic acid) to soothe pain and itching common to minor wounds; also contains a mild medication (phenylephrine) that contracts tiny blood capillaries and muscle fibers to shrink wounds and help stop oozing blood/serum, which attract flies.  As long as you restrict this to minor, superficial wounds, there shouldn't be any health problems.
Apply directly to wound with clean finger or gauze pad.
100% Aloe Vera Gel.
Same as Above.
Comments/Drawbacks.
Soothing, anti-inflammatory, and keeps tissues moist.  Keep restricted to minor, superficial wounds.
Bandage Padding
&
Elastic Bandaging
Thick "super" Kotex sanitary napkins.
Apply directly to prepared wound, secure with outter elastic bandage.
Comments/Drawbacks.
Provides excellent padding for small wounds; an effective absorbent that usually doesn't stick to wounds.  Limited to use on small wounds that can be completely covered by the pad.  When used on lower legs, where there's lottle or no natural padding, bandage-induced damage to tendons (baddage bow) can occur if excessive tension is applies with the outer, elastic layer of the bandage, particularly if the padded portion of the pad doesn't completely circumvent the lower leg.  In this case, use additional pads or a larger pad.
