| INFORMATION A petition was circulated via the internet against a secret society at Yale University in New Haven. The petition alleges that this society has secretly kept the skull of Apache Geronimo, after the supposed surrender in 2001 by members including Jonathan Bush (President George Bush's brother) to Apache leaders in New York |
COMMENTARY I was recently in Leicester (UK) visiting bookshops when I came across a street entertainer performing near Marks & Spencer in the Town Centre. He was dressed in deerskin trousers and a breastplate playing a South American panflute. I opted to approach him and detected a very heavy Spanish accent - ultimately I decided to speak to him in Spanish. And found his accent to be very South American. |

| He claimed to be Apache from New Mexico but the odds were that he was none of the kind - Although, he was a very good musician, very professional with a great composition of music (I bought his CD), I found it unfortunate that he portrayed himself as something that he was not. In my opinion I consider South American indigenous cultural music exceptional and beautiful within its own right and should be represented as such. I also feel that its unfair for performers to pass themselves off in the UK as Native American Indians of North America...the public are entitled to authenticity. |
