Smell the smoke, hear the roar! As a Civil War enthusiast, you have read the historical accounts, walked across battlefields and asked yourself, "what was it really like?". Now you have the chance to find out. Join the First Texas and have the opportunity to do something you have read and dreamed about. Live the life of a Civil War soldier. Come join us and participate in field training, inspections, camp life and the feel of combat. You will experience the confusion and excitement amid the swirling smoke and noise of battle. Anticipation and fear of the unknown as you relive a part of our nation's history. You will become a living historian and feel the kinship of Americans who fought the greatest struggle in the history of our nation. There is nothing quite like wearing an authentic uniform, carrying equipment and weapons during living history demonstrations and reenactments. We stress authenticity and strive to accurately portray the common soldier. So imagine going back in time to the 1860's and living history as our forefathers did. The 1st Texas ( part of General John Bell Hood's Texas Brigade) was one of the most honored Confederate fighting units.


The Palmer Guards, Company C, was one of the Companies originally formed in Harris County, Texas.
The war record of this famous fighting unit was a gallant and glorious one.

The Texans ( affectionately referred to by General Robert E. Lee as " My Texans") participated in 38 engagements; including six of the greatest battles of war-

Gettysburg
Chickamauga
and The Wilderness.
