"Dolly"

Dolly is a retired brood bitch from another kennel who is spending her retirement years here at Galaxy. A fight with another yorkie at a young age left Dolly blind in one eye, but she has never let that slow her down. Both of Dolly's parents were English imports, though Dolly herself was born in America.

As a brood bitch, Dolly spent much of her time in the kennel. Since her arrival at Galaxy, she has lived in the house. Dolly has taken this change in living situations as her due. Her favorite spot to sleep is on a pillow on my bed. She lies on the pillow, crosses her paws in front of her and looks every bit the queen surveying her kingdom.

I had tried breeding Dolly to Floyd last year but the breeding did not take. Dolly is now eight and has had multiple litters. It appeared that she was no longer interested in having puppies. That was fine with me and we have no plans to retry the breeding. I am happy just to have Dolly as a loving house pet.

Dolly has her moments of being forceful. When she was staying with friends, she barked every time she was left in the ex-pen, demanding to be taken out and played with. They tried taking her for a walk on a leash but as she had never been leash broken it did not work well. Several months ago as I was loading in from a show, I had left the door open for a few minutes. After I counted noses, I was minus one. I opened up the door and there on the rug outside the door was Dolly with an "Oops, I didn't mean to do that" look on her face.

While Floyd may actually rule the house, Dolly certainly sees herself as the queen of all she surveys.
