The first person to play the Doctor was William Hartnel. He played the role from 1963- 1966. In the Doctor's first incarnation he was a slindar, stooped, old man who had a tather grouchy attitude. The Doctor fled Gallifrey with his granddaughter Susan because of a revolt that had sprang up. The Doctor and Susan stole a TARDIS, he did not know it was in for extensive repares. The Doctor landed the TARDIS on Earth, Ian Cahesterson and Barbra Wright, found out about the TARDIS the Doctor hit the switch, and the adventures stated. The Doctor and his companins had many adventures together. They met up with the Daleks; sinister beings who want to exterminate all life in the universe; the Cybermen; who travel to other planets to exploit their resources. At the end of the Doctor's first incarnation he battled the Cybermen. They weakened him and he regenerated. |
