Sailor Mercury
Mercury represents one of the Greek gods Hermes, and of the sailor universe, he was the most intelligent. In Chinese astrology, the planet Mercury is associated with water.

Sailor Mars
Mars is the God of War, and has always been considered having a trait of masculinity. Mars represents fire, and had names for two moons, like Rei's crows at Hikawa Shrine.

Sailor Jupiter
Jupiter is the Roman Form of Zeus, and is in fact one of the strongest of all the gods.

Venus caused a lot of trouble between the gods. Venus is very flirtatious and in Chinese astrology, her attack is metal which explains the "Venus Love Me Chain" attack.

Sailor Uranus
Uranus is the god of the sky, and Tenou Haruka means, "Sky Emperor." In Japanese legend, three objects were sent to the earth to protect it from the evils. These were a sword, a mirror and gem orb. Uranus carries the sword.

Sailor Neptune
In Greek mythology, Neptune is the god of the sea. Neptune was known for losing many battles, and that is why in the Sailor Moon series, Michiru is nearly perfect. Kaiou Michiru means, "Sea Road."

Sailor Pluto
Pluto was called the god of the underworld, and the god of the dead. In the series, Saturn's and Pluto's roles are reversed, and the only link is Pluto's attack, "Dead Scream." Meiou Setsuna means, "Dark King."

Sailor Saturn
In the original story, Saturn was the god of time, and Pluto was the god of death. But the roles were switched in the Sailor Moon series to have a fifth Chinese element where all people return to earth after their deaths.
