In
January of 1976, a small textile group was organized in Gainesville,
Florida evolving into the Gainesville Handweavers Guild. It has grown
and expanded its areas of interest and involvement but maintained the
original purpose: to further the art and appreciation of handweaving
and related fiber arts.
The
Guild contributes to and supports the artistic development of its
members through learning experiences, exhibitions, and fellowship. It
also functions to inform and educate the Gainesville area concerning
the fiber arts.
