Ah Heng's Daoism Page
Chapter Seventy Six

A human's life is soft and weak,
after death he becomes stiff and hard.
All living things are born vulnerable and weak,
when they die they become withered and dry.

The one who is strong and tough is embarking on death,
the one who is soft and weak is entering the doorway of life.

Hence the army which is strong and trained will not attain victory,
the wood which is rigid will just snap and break;
The strong and big is inferior,
the soft and weak is in fact superior.
