| Chapter Sixty Seven All people say that my Dao is great, because it is great, it does not resemble the mundane one. All people say that I am great, because I am great, I do not resemble the common person. If I resemble the ordinary, I would be a small man for a long time. I have three treasures which I carry and guard. One is empathy, one is frugality, one is the fear to be in front of the world. I have empathy, from which derives my courage to act, I am frugal, therefore my acts are naturally widespread, I am afraid, hence I am an extraordinary man for long. (But I warn,) If one already gives up empathy, one will just act courageously; If one already gives up frugality, one will just display widespread generocity; If one already gives up supporting, one is always at the forefront doing great deeds. (All will eventually) be dead. If one is empathetic, one wins any war; in defence, one will be impervious. For Heaven will surely save thee, and guard thee with divine love. |
