| Chapter Three Not veering towards morality, enables the masses not to compete; Not to value rarities, ensures no thievery would result. Not to define desirables, and the masses would not be confused. (Heng: Daoist Political Philosophy. Its political nature of Wu Wei is found throughout the whole classic.) Hence the Enlightened manages, by emptying the heart, substantiates in knowledge, weakens the willpower, and strengthens the bone. Keeping the masses with no desires and wants, all intellects would cease and no rebellious actions would arise. Adopting Wu Wei, then there is nothing that cannot be managed! |
