| Chapter Twenty Eight He who knows the Maleness, is to guard the Femaleness, as the Spring for all Nourishments. With such, the flourishing of the virtues will not be forsaken, all will return to the Naive Child. He who knows the White, is to guard the Black, as the ontological Manifestations of the World. With such, the flourishing of the virtues will not be reified, all will return to the Wu Ji (Formless-Before-Manifestation). He who knows the Glory, is to guard the Belittlement, as the Containment of the World. With such, the flourishing of the virtues will not be exhausted, all will return to the Uncarved Block. The Uncarved Block is dispersed into social institutions, becoming the apparatus used by the Enlightened, these are the ministers of Parliament. Therefore the ruler does not enforce distinct rules. (Heng: This Chapter is my second favourite. If you can really understand what it really means (I have already tried to translate it in modern language), I will clap you on the shoulder and support you.) |
