White Wines
Name: Seppelt Moyston Unoaked Chardonnay
Type: White Chardonnay, Chardonnay
Vintage: 2000
Producer:
Seppelt and Sons
Origin: Australia, South Australia
Status: --
Place of Purchase: Cold Storage (Parkway Parade)

Description: Normally, Chardonnay is oaked in barrels to give it a pleasant buttery taste, but this method is done at the expense of the wine's original fruity flavors. At first, this unoaked version seems to answer my thirst for fruity Chardonnay but it doesnt live up to my expectation. Although the bottle label says it has fresh melon and peachy fruit flavours, I dont seem to savour much of these fruits after drinking for so long. This wine, however, does taste acidic and flavorful... but only contains minute traces of fruits in it. Perhaps I need to age it a little? I dont know. Anyway, it is the only unoaked Chardonnay that I can find in the stores so far. Costing only $18+, you might fancy a try too.
Rating: 6, ok if you want an unoaked Chardonnay for a change.
Name: Cawarra Muscat Gordo
Type:
White Fortified Muscat, Muscat
Vintage:
2000
Producer:
Lindesman Winery
Origin:
Australia, Cawarra
Status:
--
Place of Purchase:
NTUC Fair Price (Tampines)

Description:
This Muscat is rich and thick in taste, slightly honeyed and has a good after-taste. It also comes from the relatively famous Lindesman winery and so guaranteed of fine quality. It is perfect for serving beginners who are not used to the tough taste of wine, as well as frequent wine drinkers who fancy the taste of sweet dessert wines for a change. Although sweet and hence strengthened with alcohol, its alcohol content still remains at 10%, which is good news for beginners too. Even if you dont drink sweet Muscat, buy it and keep it at home you never know when you will need it. At $18+, it becomes a must-buy for all wine enthusiasts.
Rating:
8, a quality Muscat which is value for money. You might want to compare it to the stronger and more expensive 'Beaune De Venise' from France.

Description:
An ok wine with floral flavors and pleasant to drink. Quite fluid to the mouth. As I do not really know how to appreciate white wine, this is all I can say about this wine.
Rating: 7
, not bad, worth a try.
Name: Muscat De Beaumes De Venise (now drinking)
Type:
White Muscat, Muscat
Vintage:
? (not labelled)
Producer:
Henry Bouachon
Origin:
France, Rhone Valley, Beaumes De Venice
Status:
Appellation Muscat De Beaumes De Venise
Place of Purchase:
NTUC Fair Price (Bedok)

Description:
This Muscat is much stronger than the Australian counterpart I last drank. Not only is it very intense in aroma, its powerful floral taste lingers in my mouth for hours after I have drunk it. Strong and intensely aromatic, it will at first take your breath away to savor such a sweet delicacy. However, I still think that it loses out to the Australian Muscat for a variety of reasons. Firstly, it is way too powerful and intense to be truly enjoyable on a daily basis. In fact, its strong aroma becomes too over-powering to bear after a few drinks. Secondly, apart from its sweetness and intense aroma, the wine doesn't seems to have much complexities and hidden flavors. It also does not have a memorable after-taste. Thirdly, it is far more expensive than the Australian Muscat, costing at around $25++. This makes me think twice about buying it a second time
Rating: 7
, too overpowering in flavor and lacks complexitity... A bit disappointing.
