| The National Lan Ke Cup Hence when the National Lan Ke Cup arrived (the Weiqi competition in Singapore for all levels), not surprisingly we were invited by the Weiqi Society to represent AJ as a group for the competition. For us, it was special because it was rare someone not members of the Weiqi Society were invited to represent the school! We wanted to thank the Society for giving us this chance to enter the national competition. The Lan Ke Cup competition was really an eye-opener for all of us as we were playing with the best Weiqi players from various schools of Singapore. As junior college, we were in the same groups as NUS, NTU and Polytechnics. Hwa Chong JC had a tradition of good Weiqi skills and it is renown that they had teachers with professional �Dans� coaching them in their skills. For NUS and NTU, they were our seniors and hence there was no doubt of their superior skills. Traditionally in the Lan Ke Cup competition, everyone knew that NUS and NTU would hold the first two places in the competition. They were too strong to be won over by anyone in the group. |
| Fighting For Third Place The third place hence lies between either AJ or HCJC. Frankly speaking, no group could compare to HC and AJ's Weiqi skills at that time. Despite us lacking the kind of professional help that Hwa Chong had, in the end, somehow our points happened to be on par with them! At that time, me, Weishun and some of our group members had already won our games. Hence we were now waiting for our last member to finish the game. It was a crucial match -- winning the match would mean keeping our advantage, while losing would mean that we were out� In the end we did not win. It is sad, but it seemed that we were not in luck this time round. There is a need for further improvement for AJ...
