History:
Chapter 1
The important part of the story starts out when he first appeared in FCW. Starting out, though, Dorian Devons was a young upstart appearing in organizations no one had ever heard of. Wins here and there, title reigns, and whatnot. Nothing important, though, until the FCW comes around for him.
It started with a phone call to the owner, one Mr. James Crawford, of the acclaimed organization, who decided to give him a chance to prove his mettle in the ring. A few weeks go by with no interview, annoying Mr. Crawford. A match is made with Dorian taking on Seth Rage, someone not important to the history of the organization, but a very vital part of the story, for he was the stepping stone for Dorian, signed under the name of Jean, to become a man of legend. Crawford was surprised when Dorian finally emerged, literally, from the shadows, to give his first interview. Not only that, but the owner was also impressed with how smooth his words were: how fluid his words came from him. His words were like ice and they flowed with absolution. He had proven he could speak. Now, he had to show his talent in the ring.
His movements were smooth and well-orchestrated. Rage had no defense against him. Thus, he fell easily at Dorian's hands. Thus was the true introduction to the man known then only as Jéan
He went on to win his second match against Sambo, who becomes a little more important later on in the story. he really becomes known his third week in, taking part in a tournament for the World Heavyweight Title, having been vacated by Tom Tennant the week before. His first round opponent was none other than Scion. The two had a fight, and one could argue that if not for usage of a sledgehammer from Dorian, Scion may have won. We will never know the answer to who would have won under different circumstances that night, though. Regardless, Dorian had now made it to the second round of the tournament. His opponent? None other than the "Blonde Bastard" Mark Payne. A war the fans wanted. A war the fans got. In a match where some argue that the two were very evenly matched, Payne pulled off a Superstar Superkick to finally put Dorian down after a twenty minute battle. Payne would go on to the finals to win the World Title that very night.
After a few more weeks, Dorian went on to win the TV title, but he lost it a week later after a pre-match assault from Mark Payne. The war between the two would continue to heat up as Dorian would get a second chance at Mark Payne and the World Title come Civil War 2001. It should also be noted that the two made it hell for each other week in and out. Just as well, though, Mark Payne had chosen Dorian to be one of his nine teammates for the Civil War match, which would see the survivors getting a title shot of their choosing. So came Civil War and the match Dorian had waited for. He wanted Mark Payne. He got Mark Payne. Unluckily for Dorian, though, it was too much Mark Payne for him to handle that night. Payne defeated him in somewhat convincing fashion. But the Dark Prince was not frustrated. As a matter of fact, later that night, He was one of the only three survivors of the Civil War match, therefore securing him a title shot of his choosing. He would use it to get a brilliant revenge even he could not have fathomed.
Samson was slated to face Mark Payne for the World Title in a one-on-one match. However, Dorian turned the tables by using his title shot to include himself in on the affair, making it a three-way-dance. Payne and Samson were infuriated and confused, giving Dorian a slight edge he hadn't counted on. He was the X-factor in the ending of Mark Payne's title reign. He would be eliminated by Payne, but the damage had been done as Samson went in for the kill. After a dragon suplex, Payne was unable to get up in time to keep his title. Payne's greatest enemy of the time had cost him the one thing he cherished most, earning Dorian a very personal victory though not a World Title victory. He would suffer consequences he hadn't forseen, though.
After a tag match pitting him and Darian Blaze against Payne and Hazard, Payne did the unthinkable. Taking a bat, the Blonde Bastard would break his enemy's ribs, taking him out of action for nearly two months, as well as ruining his chance for a World Title shot against Samson.
It should be noted that at the time, Dorian had formed an alliance with Darian Blaze and the Paladin. After suffering his injury, his title shot went to Darian Blaze, who would go on to win the title. Oddly enough, this infuriated Dorian, who returned with a vengeance. Not against Payne, confusing as it is, but alongside of him. He was intent on making it hell for Blaze. Alongside of Payne and Hazard, the two cleared the ring of Scion and Dark Enigma, and decimated the Paladin and Darian Blaze, prompting a survivor match pitting Scion, Dark Enigma, Darian Blaze, the Paladin, and Onslaught against Scourge, Explosion, Hazard, Mark Payne and Dorian. Dorian's team won, only losing Scourge in the match. It was also during this match that another key character in the story appeared for the first time in FCW. The one known only as Monarch.
Chapter 2
Dorian's alliance with Payne would be short-lived as he abruptly ended it. And not quietly, either. On a February edition of FCTV, Payne was scheduled to take on Shawn Micheals, Dream Warrior and the monstrous Nightmare in a Four Corners match. Nightmare was the first one eliminated by Payne himself, but it just didn't matter that night. Payne mocked the giant, but it was Nightmare who had the last laugh - alongside of none other than Dorian himself. After destroying Payne and his manager at the time (none other than Rhapsody) Nightmare removed his mask to reveal his true face. This was the birth of Rinyth as he stood in the ring with Dorian Devons, Evelyn, and Karen Starr. Thus was the birth of the Chamber. It didn't stop there, though. About a month later, they went on to win the Tag Team Titles in a three way tag match, much to the dismay of the Nightmare Express. The next week added to their numbers.
Payne and Darian Blaze had a title match on an FCTV showing. Blaze won the title, but his victory was short-lived. A post-match assault ensued, with Dorian and Rinyth storming the ring as well as a black clothed individual fighting beside them. It became a carnage. Scourge revealed himself as the mysterious individual, marking his introduction into the Chamber by executing a vicious Guillotine from the ropes to a chair below on his long-time enemy, Darian Blaze.
The Chamber, for a number of months, were the unstoppable force that no one could seem to put a dent in. The team of Dorian and Rinyth were unbeatable for a time until being DQ'd in one tag match. But, it wasn't until after Dorian and Rinyth lost the tag titles in a four-team table death match at Cruel and Unusual 2002 that the first proverbial "crack in the armor" came to fruition, which was quickly taken advantage of. The Chamber was hated throughout the FCW. But moreso was that fact that they were the most feared force. However, a number of individuals decided to do something about it. With Hazard as the "boss", Devil's Dance Inc. was formed, consisting of the the Paladin, The Bodyguard, Sambo, and the man Dorian hated most at the time, Darian Blaze. Quickly, they took charge of the situation and drove a nail into the coffin that would mark the beginning of the end for the Chamber. Numerous matches came, with the Chamber coming out on the losing end of most of them. A War Games match proved to be the final blow necessary for the Chamber to disinitegrate from within.
Rinyth left immediately after, knowing what was coming and not willing to get in the middle of it. Tension grew between Dorian and Scourge, an argument ensuing about whose fault it was that things had suddenly gone so wrong for them. For weeks, they didn't speak to each other, and when a tag match came along pitting them together, the ensuing battle between Scourge and Dorian after the match marked the absolute end of the Chamber and a whole new rivalry which saw two classic wars between Dorian and Scourge.
First, though, was Dorian's decisive victory over Sambo which ended his enemy's long-time and impressive Intercontinental Title reign. 21 days later, though, Dorian would meet Scourge in a battle for that same title. In a back and forth contest between the two, it was Scourge who put Dorian down for the three count, securing him the Intercontinental Title and taking the first victory. However, no one, not even Dorian, foresaw the man who would be the no. 1 contender for the World Title at Civil War 2002, then-champion Hazard. It was none other than Dorian Devons himself. Though he hadn't gotten a spot in the much-anticipated AGW vs. FCW Civil War match, Dorian finally got the chance which had been stolen from him by Mark Payne so many months before. This time, Dorian had no intention whatsoever of choking.
Dorian was a man on a mission that night. Taking everything he had to the "One Man Riot", Dorian would finally secure himself the title he had been so determined to get since first coming to FCW. He had finally won the FCW World Title.
Chapter 3
His World Title victory was the sweetest thing to him. His prize was finally in his grasp, and he had no intention of letting it go anytime soon. A number of opponents came and went, all falling by Dorian's ruthless determination to stay the best. This was when his second battle against Scourge came along. It was a submission-only cage match, which saw the two enemies tear into each other. No title was on the line, but a lot of pride was. It was a war, but a weary Dorian finally locked in a Kataha-Jime. With nowhere to go and Dorian cinching the hold with every bit of strength he had left, Scourge had no choice but to tap out.
Though his victory over Scourge had been a sweet one, he had no time to savor it, for the "King of the Rotten" Monarch had set his sights on the Dark Prince, and the World Title. Monarch went so far as to desecrate the grave of Dorian's sister, shattering it and then adding insult with a snot rocket. Dorian was quick to focus his attention on making Monarch's life a living hell.
For weeks, Dorian focused on sending a message to the "King of the Rotten". He wanted Monarch to know just how intent he was on destroying him. After numerous attacks, it finally came down to the All Hell Breaks Loose PPV. Up to that point, people had no idea what Dorian was capable of, but at the very end of the match, people everywhere saw something they never thought they'd see anyone do. The Dark Prince grabbed his trusted sledgehammer and, with a powerful swing, shattered the plating of the World Title. Everyone was shocked, wondering what would possess him to do such a thing. They're answer came in the form of a perfectly positioned Deadly Promise, dropping Monarch face-first into the shattered World Title belt, scarring Monarch for life and keeping him down for the count. Dorian wanted to make sure Monarch didn't get up, and he accomplished just that.
It seemed as though everyone was now after the Dark Prince, but his next major opponent was none other than "The Blonde Bastard" Mark Payne, only now the roles were now reversed, as Payne was the challenger this time and Dorian was the champion. People wondered if Payne would finally be the man to take the belt from Dorian, who had an iron grip on the belt for four months at this point. Thus, Survival of the Fittest came along and the much-anticipated encounter came to pass. The encounter was more surprising than anything, as Dorian defeated Payne to retain the belt. Dorian's stronghold on the belt was only strengthened, as the entire FCW now felt threatened by the champion. But one man stood up to take the chance of a lifetime. None other than the madman Oblivion. No matter how many times Dorian pinned Oblivion, the madman would not stay down for the ten count. Frustrated, Dorian ended up using his trusted sledgehammer, the weapon which aided him so much during his career, on Oblivion, finishing off the madman and ending his hopes to win the title on that night. It was then that everyone realized that he would keep the title by any means necessary. However, one man was intent on ending the terror of the Dark Prince's reign as champion. For a number of weeks, Dorian was haunted by a masked man who mimicked him, until finally one move proved gave away identity of him. The Flatscan. It was none other than Hazard that was causing him so much hell. It would be at the FCW's flagship PPV in which they would meet once again for the World Title, with two others mixed into the fray. Evenkiel and none other than the "Blonde Bastard" Mark Payne.
The competitors for the match each had their own agenda. While all of them aimed for the World Title, you couldn't help but know that it was about more than just the title. Evenkiel was aiming to buy FCW from the hands of James Crawford, believing he honestly could. Payne, however, was intent on ending the ramblings of the loudmouthed Evenkiel. Hazard wanted to pry the power the title held from the hands of Dorian. It didn't matter to him whether or not he walked out as the champion, just as long as Dorian didn't. Dorian wanted to punish Hazard for how much of a pain in the neck he was to him. It made good television as well, as the match was intense from the beginning. At first, Dorian had trouble as it seemed he was being teamed on by all three of his challengers, but eventually, he got into a rhythm - a rather dangerous rhythm. Systematically, he eliminated Evenkiel and Mark Payne, leaving just him and Hazard in the ring alone. It seemed as though Dorian would once again prove his dominance as time after time, he pinned the One Man Riot, dropping him with a number of Deadly Promises. But, for every time he pinned Hazard, the man kept getting back up. Soon, everyone, including the Dark Prince himself, realized that Dorian Devons would not walk out of the arena as the champion on that night. Regardless, Dorian tried everything he could to put Hazard away for good. It wasn't enough, though. Hazard suffered numerous Tears For Fears, Moments of Clarity and an impossible amount of Deadly Promises, but it was one move that sealed the deal. The Flatscan caught Dorian from nowhere and it was that one move that would mark the end for the champion. The pinfall was counted, and as Dorian lay on the mat, unable to answer the ten count to follow, the end of his reign had finally come. The Dark Prince had been beaten, and, even moreso, he had been humbled.
Chapter 4
Beaten and bruised from his loss, Dorian realized what a mess he had become. He had become so self-absorbed that he had lost all sense of humility and respect for the FCW locker room. His injury at the hands of Mark Payne had been when it started, but he blamed himself for it. He had wanted the title, and the chance he had back then had been stolen from him. Afterwards, he became so obsessed with it that he had driven himself into being the most hated man in FCW. He wanted to redeem himself then, but there arose a problem. Men much bigger than him all wanted to destroy him. Scourge, Onslaught, and Harrison Phillips. Phillips had even smashed Dorian through a wall. At Lethal Lottery, they got their piece. Dorian didn't last long in the ring among his three opponents, being the first one eliminated from the match. As if things weren't bad enough for him that night. His tag team partner for the lethal lottery tournament was one of the people he hated the most. The Candian midget Quackman. Things couldn't possibly get worse for Dorian, mostly due to the fact that Dorian was homophobic. He considered his being eliminated in the first round of the tournament to be more of a blessing than anything, for he no longer had to put up with teaming with Quacks. Another shot at the World Title just wasn't worth putting up with the midget to get it.
All of this, though, paled in comparison to what was to come for him, as a newcomer to FCW, the enigmatic and God-fearing Chris Zion. Zion came in claiming to want to cleanse the FCW of its resident "goths", starting with the darkest of them. None other than Dorian Devons himself. Zion was under the impression that if he could help Dorian achieve cleansing within his own soul, he could help everyone else under the "dark influence". But Dorian was too stubborn to want Zion's help with anything, claiming that it was his lifestyle and that no power could change that. Zion felt he had no other choice but to put an end to Dorian himself. Thus came the Stairway to Hell match at Cruel and Unusual 2003. Some could argue that it was one of the greatest matches the FCW had ever witnessed, and it very well may have been. The intensity of it was undeniable as both men struggled to reach their weapon by climbing the ladder covered in razor wire. Just the same, both men suffered tremendous amounts of lacerations from knocking down the ladder when one of them was climbing it. The blood flowed, turning the mat into a bloodbath. A number of times, Dorian reached the top of the ladder, in grabbing distance of his trusted sledgehammer. It was thought numerous times that Dorian would walk away with the victory, but each time he came up short. Perhaps his biggest miss in the match was after a Deadly Promise, which would have marked the end if not for the miss. In the end, it was Zion who pulled the victory. After placing Dorian inside the ladder and executing his Fall From Grace finisher, Zion was slow to get up. He set the ladder back up and proceeded to climb it and grab his kendo stick from the top. His victory, though, only meant brutalization as he climbed back down the ladder and proceeded to beat on Dorian with the kendo stick until it broke clean in half. His fun didn't end there as he once again climbed the ladder and retrieved the sledgehammer, stood atop the ladder in a Christ-like pose, and then simply let the hammer fall, dropping directly onto the midsection of Dorian, marking the end of their encounter. Nowadays, this match is thought of as the one which ended Dorian's run as main event status, and it's easy to understand why. The match had a significant effect on the Dark Prince, from physical injuries to hurt pride, to thoughts of retirement and everything in-between. It was at this point that Dorian contemplated giving it all up.
While Dorian was pondering this, though, he was being stalked by a madman. Jay Reno had become obsessed with the Dark Prince. Why? We'll probably never know why, but week after week Dorian was tormented by "Kid Kaos". And though Dorian beat Reno twice by that point, the madman kept coming for more. However, before the issue had a chance to be settled, the FCW closed its doors.
Chapter 5
Dorian had decided it was time to hang it up after FCW's closing. It finally gave him a chance to fully heal his past injuries, which was a number of them, before finally getting back into top shape. He had no idea why he continued working out. After all, he was done with wrestling, going into an early retirement. It was as if he just felt that he should. For two years, it was this way. A man who sat at home with no worries at all. But he was empty. The ring was where he felt most comfortable, but he couldn't bring himself to get back in the ring. This was the case until something within him snapped. He needed the ring, not for the purpose of going after titles again, but because he enjoyed the adrenaline rush that came with wrestling. He buckled his boots once again and put in a call to Speed Racer. Now, he's back in a ring. One has to wonder, though, if he's going to make an attempt at achieving his former glory.
