Our Statement concerning the September 11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center

We, the Global Anti-Imperialism Grassroots Islamic Organization, condemn with the utmost conviction the horrors that occurred on the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center. Our sympathies are with the American people on the suffering and death brought to them by this tragic event.

As Muslims we are required by our religion to reject any violence against innocent civilians. Terrorism is not part of the religion or teachings of the Islamic religion. We ask the American people to think with a level head before blaming a certain religion or promoting violence against a certain people for the actions of a few unknown terrorists who do not represent the aspirations of the Muslim world.

We also ask the 9/11 commission set up by the government of the United States of America to present solid and unyielding proof that the perpetrators of this crime were indeed representative of a few of our fellow Muslims. We have reason to believe the American government was involved in a cover-up of the investigation of the 9/11 attacks. We are also in knowledge that the perpetrators of this crime, as presented to us by the government of the United States, were protected from action before the tragic event which occurred on 9/11. We would like the American government to address these points to the American people and to much greater degree the Muslim world.

It has come to our attention that many American Islamic charity organizations were closed down and their assets frozen. No proof was given that they were supporting any terrorist activities, indeed they were only helping innocent civilians. We must also ask why these measures occurred immediately after Ramadan, when Muslims are required to give a special charity on their yearly income. We would atleast like to hear a statement from the government why these organizations were shut down and also why their assets were frozen.

Following the 9/11 attacks, there have been many statements made by certain chrisitan religious leaders in the United States of America which contribute to hostility and hate crimes against Arabs, Muslims, and Sikhs. We would like the government of the United States to take a more active role in condemning and preventing such bigoted views to be spread in their country.

Regardless of who carried out these attacks, since there is not enough proof to avert blame to a certain individual and taking into account Bin Laden himself rejected his involvement in the 9/11 attacks in many speeches, we would like to reaffirm our conviction to the American Muslim community. We feel great sorrow for all those who were victims of hate crimes and terror carried out by certain groups in America against innocent Muslims. The plight of the suffering endured by the American Muslim community is greatly realized by the Muslim world and we shall do anything we can to help them. These heinous actions on 9/11 has also led to the invasions of two sovereign Muslim countries, Afghanistan and Iraq, both on lies issued from the American government. These actions have not helped the Muslim world, but hurt the Muslim world in great way. We also feel great sympathy for the victims of the American invasion in Afghanistan and Iraq, and also the persecution endured by many Islamic people throughout the world.

In short, we have sympathy for all the innocent victims, Muslim and Non-Muslim, of the 9/11 terrorist attacks and the actions taken by the American government afterwards.
