no one could see me...
Chapter 2:  It's a pleasure to meet you  (part 1)                        .previous. .main. .next.

"This must be it," Cate said as she steered her car into the driveway of a yellow Tudor style townhouse, complete with a little white picket fence.
"How adorable!" I said as I gazed at it. "They gave you this to live in while you're here?"
"Well, they're letting me rent it. But, man, good taste, eh?" She gave a grin and hopped out of the car. I quickly followed her as she glided up the stairs and into the house.
"Wow," she said as she stepped inside,"fully furnished and everything. I'm liking the colors, too."
The living room was done primarily in earthy tones: light tan walls, deep brown sofa, sage green chairs, burgundy pillows, and all the wood was stained a rich deep brown. Even the occasional painting and the rug mirrored the colors. The scheme continued on through the dining room, ending only at the entrance to the kitchen.
The kitchen was all bright colors. Yellow walls, white and black checkered tile, red and blue table cloth, boldly colored pictures here and there... all very chic. And, upon further investigation, fully stocked. Cate, who had gone up stairs to check out the rest of the place, decided to return at that moment with a big grin plastered to her face.
I smiled. "I take it the rest of the house is just as spiffy?"
She nodded emphatically. "It's beautiful! There's an extra bedroom upstairs where you can stay."
"Groovy. Well, I'm sure I'll be more than happy to temporarily occupy it."
She grinned. Just then the phone began to ring. Cate excused herself, asking retorically who could it be. After a fairly short conversation she hung the phone up and returned to the kitchen.
"That was Peter's assistant at the studio. He wants me to head over as soon as possible to meet with him. You want to come?"
"Me? Come to a movie studio? Is that allowed?" I was more than a little shocked. I mean, whoa, they're making a movie and I get to wander around the set. How cool is that?
She shrugged. "I guess we'll find out. But we need to bring the bags in first. Let's go!"

Ten minutes later we were back on the road. We didn't bother unpacking. Instead we merely brought all the bags inside and set them in the living room and then left again. Cate had recruited me to tell her where to drive by handing me the directions she managed to scribble down. It didn't take too long to find the place, get through security, and then find the correct place to park, which was surprising, to say the least. The car finally being parked, Cate and I got out and went off in search of the elusive Peter Jackson.
