***NEW STAMP: Bella Abzug, Shirley Chilsom & Women of the House/Senate?
From ABIGAILS-L 5/14/98
I am spending a rare day @ home, doing some computer file & management & listening to Larry Bensky on the radio, doing a show on Bella Abzug. Right now they are playing a speech of Bella's, who is WAILING about the feminization of poverty (1985?). Have goosebumps.
Went back to my bedroom to pickup some knitting while I wait for the files to manage themselves. Passed by a picture sent by irene of Eleanor Roosevelt which has an insert of Eleanor knitting.
As I picked up my knitting (an afghan started in Seoul while waiting to board a plain to the UN Women's Conf), I had a brilliant flash:
Hey, how about a BELLLA ABZUG stamp?
Whatsmore, how about a SHIRLEY CHISOLM stamp?
And who was that multi-termed congresswoman from Wyoming who was a feminist & a pacifist?
Since the post office issues commemorative stamps of four, who would you suggest be in a series of stamps honoring the women of the House & Senate?
