NEXT LADIES AOH MEETING:

Tuesday, November 14, 2006 at 7pm

at Red Rooster at Rhawn

FROM AOH DIVISION 1 PRESIDENT:

Brothers and Sisters,

The month of November is usually a time of the year when we give thanks for what we have since Thanksgiving falls in this month.    We also think about all those who are not as well off as us and try to help them out. As for our membership in the AOH/LAOH we do this for many reasons but none more important then helping those less fortunate then us.

We have been able to accomplish many wonderful things in our short history of Division 1 both men women and students at Catholic High.   For so few to make such a positive impact on so many is a real high point in the history of the division. We also have a lot of fun doing this at the same time.   We are fortunate enough to have a great relationship with so many other divisions that we sometimes forget the tight bond we have with groups.    Take our close relationship with our friends from AOH/LAOH 25.

The bond we share along with our commitment to honor Patrick Kerr is stuff of legend.

There is a dedication I am going to on November 7th at Roman's newest building on 13th and Wood Street. It is being dedicated and named appropriately the McSherry Annex. In short Jim McSherry was a living legend at Catholic High. His life was dedicated to making sure that there was still a school surviving to follow the dream of Thomas Cahill the founder of Roman Catholic High School. When the school faced closure Jim was right there to encourage the rest of the Alumni Association to raise money and get students to attend the school. Jim's love for the school was unsurpassed and he will be sorely missed.   He was a true Cahillite!

We have an important date this month:  Hoops for Hunger Tournament 11/24 -11/26

This is a CYO grade school Basketball Tournament for Boys and Girls in Catholic Grade Schools in the city. We don't charge them but we do ask for a canned good in return for their entrance fee.

All this money raised during the tournament is used for the Hibernian Hunger Project works. This is something that we need volunteers for the weekend.

If you can give sometime it would be most appreciated.

I know this falls on the Ladies trip to AC but think about just a few hours on another day.

We always have some sort of work of Charity for the holiday season but this year we should get back to having some type of gathering for Christmas with the men and ladies. We should celebrate a bit. It's been a banner year for everyone involved.  Hope you all have a great Thanksgiving! If anyone has any ideas about a Christmas gathering please let Maggie, Ann Marie or myself know.

Best Regards,

John Riley

Prayer to St. Brigid
Father, by the leadership of thy blessed servant Brigid thou didst strengthen the Church in this land;  As we give thee thanks for her life of devoted service, inspire us with new life and light, and give us perseverance to serve thee all our days; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen

May you always have work for your hands to do.
May your pockets hold always a coin or two.
May the sun shine bright on your windowpane.
May the rainbow be certain to follow each rain.
May the hand of a friend always be near you.
And may God fill your heart with gladness to cheer you
.
